PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Longstreet-Means Hall is a continuation of the phased master plan for a consolidated freshman housing village on the Emory campus. Longstreet-Means has underground parking with a stormwater cistern for landscape irrigation and an elevated Green Space above the parking.
These new residence halls, completed in 2010, hold 350 students in double- and semi-suite style rooms with ample community and study space on each floor and a Great Room with gas fireplace on the main level. Longstreet-Means Hall features flooring made from recycled automobile glass or rapidly renewable bamboo, recycled-glass bathroom countertops, a low solar reflective index red tile roof to minimize heat absorption and an air-conditioning system that uses an energy recovery system and outside air economizer to save electricity.
Longstreet-Means Hall has been certified LEED Gold by the USGBC/GBCI.
